Pre-Baby Honey Glazed Roast Chicken #loveeverymouthful

Big week this week. We are having our first baby. So the weekend was all about chilling out as a couple, being at home, relaxing, watching cricket for hours on TV and taking time to enjoy some home cooked food before the madness begins.......

Lunch at Gastronomy, Hale

Middle Eastern salad at Gastronomy, Hale
Gastronomy, 191 Ashley Road, Hale WA15 9SQ
www.gastronomydeli.co.uk

If you fancy a 'ladies who lunch' session in Cheshire then try the pretty and floral upstairs cafe at Gastronomy in Hale village. I went recently with my mum and had this beautiful middle eastern salad and a strawberry milkshake. Gastronomy offers a selection of lunches with an extensive cold and hot sandwich menu as well as a selection of salads. They also offer glasses of wine and a variety of deli style soft drinks like fruity San Pellegrino.

This middle eastern salad was made up of falafel, olives, hummus, grated carrot, peppers, tomatoes and lettuce and was really tasty and filling. My mum had a salmon caesar salad which was really generous on the fish.

Lunch for two with a glass of wine and a milkshake cost £21. The pretty floral decor and the breeze flowing through the open windows made this a great mid week lunch location and I even went back again with a group of friends the following week.

Gestational Diabetes...Becoming a Sugar Mummy

This beautiful red fruit smoothie is one of the items I had to cut out of my diet when I found out I had gestational diabetes. I used to have one of these every Saturday morning....

Afternoon Tea at The Grosvenor Chester

I took my Mum to the Grosvenor Hotel in Chester for afternoon tea to celebrate Mothers Day this year. It was such a nice treat for the both of us. I was particularly excited because I've never actually been into the Grosvenor before. Chester is the city I grew up going shopping to on a Saturday afternoon and the sight of the concierge in top hat and tails outside the door never failed to impress....

Joseph Joseph Chopping Boards

I started buying Joseph Joseph chopping boards a few years ago. I noticed the other day that my two large Cut & Carve boards were looking very cut and carved so decided to invest in some new ones. I always buy my Jospeh Joseph boards from TK Maxx. You can't always guarantee they will have the colour range you might like in TK Maxx but they will be cheaper than buying them in John Lewis or Selfridges....

Giddy Giraffe

Giraffe on Spinningfields in Manchester city centre is a great place for a healthy weekend lunch. Think salads and wraps packed with super foods and goodness. I had this Giddy Giraffe smoothie the other week with a falafel burger. Made up of fresh mint, papaya, banana, orange and lime juice it's a taste sensation. The smoothie even comes with a cool mini plastic giraffe drink mixer. It's the small things that count! :-)

Baby Shower Cupcakes

Excitement within my group of girlfriends....we are expecting our first mini addition to the group at the end of April. My friend Helen is blooming with her baby boy and we can't wait to meet him. Helen's sister threw her a surprise baby shower last weekend and here is a photo of the adorable cupcakes we had to eat.

Afternoon Tea at The Cedar Court Grand Hotel, York

I booked afternoon tea at The Cedar Court Grand in York to celebrate a weekend away for Valentines day. I searched online for afternoon tea venues in York and The Cedar Court Grand came top of the review list. I think it was probably the fact it is the only five star hotel in York that swung it for me....

Oistins Friday Night Fish Fry, Barbados

Barbados. What a luxuriously cool place for a holiday. We recently spent two weeks in Barbados staying at Turtle Beach over Christmas and New Year and had an amazing time....

Street Food at Camden Market

We had a fabulous day out in Camden with all our friends just before Christmas. My friend reserved an area at The Lockside Lounge, Camden Lock from 4pm and gradually the place filled up with 17 of us all in Christmas jumpers drinking copious amounts of booze....

Red Velvet Cake by Just Beth

My gorgeous friend Beth made some red velvet cakes for a girls weekend away in Derbyshire last year. I never ever bake cakes but love eating them and these cakes were so fresh and soft. Beth moved to London last year and has set up her own lifestyle blog which you can read here:  http://justbethblog.blogspot.co.uk/.

Here is a picture of the view from the fabulous house we stayed at in Derbyshire. The house sleeps up to 14 people, has a huge kitchen and dining table, lots of car parking space and beautiful huge bedrooms. It is called The Limes and here is the link: http://www.cottage-choice.co.uk/cottages-The-Limes-RP2.shtml.

Here is a picture of Beth and I after a couple of glasses of welcome champagne ;-)
